Enter Document Defaults per Object

Explanation

Use this activity to enter rules for default document class per business object or objects when more advanced configuration is needed than what can be achieved using the central default values. For example, you can define default document class for a certain business object type.

Use this functionality to define default document class, format and language to be used when creating a new document from a certain business object.

The default values could be defined centrally for documents created from any business object under document default values, or it can be done in this window, to get different default values depending on which object the document is created, in different combinations and using wildcards.

Registering a rule to fetch a certain document class for a certain business object type.

Perform the following procedure if you want certain default document class to be used when creating new document to a business object of a certain type. In this procedure, the class 100 and the object type EquipmentFunctional will be used. Enter a new record in Document Defaults per Object page. In the Lu Name field, enter the LU name for the business object type that should be affected by this rule. Since the field supports wildcards to be entered there is no validation that the LU name is valid. (E.g. Enter EquipmentFunctional as the LU name). In the Key Ref field, leave the wildcard that was added when the line was added. Then you can enter the preferred Document Class, Language code and format combination for the object type.

Rules using wildcards in the Lu Name field.

Use the same steps as in the previous procedure, but combine letters and wildcards when entering the values for Lu Name. E.g. if there are several Lu Names where the name starts with Equipment, and you want to have the same rule for all those objects, enter Equipment% as the value. It will make the rule match both EquipmentFunctional and EquipmentSerial objects.

Rules using wildcards in the Key Ref field.

In more complex setups, you can also use wildcards in the Key Ref field, to get a more specific match on certain business objects. E.g. For the Lu Name EquipmentFunctional setting the Key Ref as CONTRACT=20^MCH_CODE=%, will make the rule match all equipment objects on site 20.

Wildcards can be used in both of the condition fields, in different combinations.
