All products in IFS Cloud use the same set of rules to create and validate accounting transactions. The set of rules includes information about posting control, code string completion and combination rules. A great part of the financial postings in IFS Cloud are created automatically by the predefined posting types and control types in IFS/Accounting Rules. This means that you do not have to do anything manually as long as you have defined your rules correctly.
When a new company is created, default values for posting control are created, depending on the components installed. All components in IFS Cloud install their own posting types, control types, and allowed combinations. Use Posting Control page to specify the posting types, control types, accounts, and other code part values used for the automatic system events created in the various components before going live with the system. More information on how the posting types and control types are used can be found in the process descriptions for each main process. Print the Posting Control Report via Order Report to get an overview on existing posting control information.
It is possible to create user defined combination control types in form Combination Control Types page. A combination control type is defined as a combination of two allowed control types for a specific posting type. The user defined combination control types can be selected via List of Values like any other control type when registering or editing the posting type Posting Control.
The system can use the code string completion information when financial transactions are created, i.e., the system can add the code string for a code part. This facilitates voucher entry. The code string completion information is entered by clicking Create Code String Completion Details in Code String Completion page. You can open Code String Completion page by clicking Code String Completion in Accounts, Account, and Code Part Values page. The values entered in Code String Completion on the other code parts are defaulted when a transaction is entered on the code part.
When postings are entered or created in IFS Financials and other products in IFS, the system checks that the combinations of code parts are valid. Use Combination Rules to enter, change, and view information about the combinations of code parts that are legal or illegal per user group.
