This activity interprets the calendar's rules (schedules and schedule exceptions), creates and stores the interpretation of those rules, and generates a calendar. This mandatory activity is to be performed by a system administrator or equivalent person, and is required in order to use the calendar in the system. A calendar can be generated on Calendar or Calendars page by selecting the relevant calendar and clicking Generate Calendar.
Only one calendar can be generated at the same time. The calendar generation is done as a background job and can be monitored in General / Background Jobs.. If the generation is successful, the state of the Calendar is set to Generated. Both new (Not Generated state) and existing (Changes Pending state) calendars can be generated. Generating a calendar in Changes Pending state should only be done with extreme caution and not during normal business hours. Changing a calendar affects all of the components which use that calendar and could seriously impact stored data in the system.
