Configuration Management Service (CMS) Validations

While performing maintenance, line technicians may be required to execute:

Recording work and task completion

When recording work on a task or fault in Mobile Maintenance, a technician fills out all the information required on installed and/or removed components to certify the completion of maintenance work. On signing off on the task/fault card, the status of the work task changes from In Work to Completed. At this point, if Mobile Maintenance is integrated with Maintenix, the information related to the component change, installation or removal is sent to CMS for validation.

If the component change is split over two task cards, one for removal and another for installation, the technician must complete the removal card before the installation one in order to avoid CMS issuing a warning message.

CMS Evaluation

CMS evaluates the component change, removal or installation executed in Mobile Maintenance with the configuration in Maintenix, to ensure basic airworthiness such that that the airplane flies with applicable and approved parts.

If CMS determines that there is a problem with the removed or installed inventory it issues a configuration warning to Mobile Maintenance. For the complete list of scenarios for which warnings are issued, refer to the CMS API Guide published with Maintenix documentation.

Configuration Warnings

During the time from task completion until CMS validation, a yellow banner is displayed on the Task Details and Fault Details pages to indicate that the CMS validation is still pending, and that at least one part change has not been validated.

When the CMS validation has been completed and CMS determines that there is a problem with the removed or installed inventory, CMS sends configurations warnings to MM as follows:

If all the part changes have been evaluated and at least one found a configuration warning was identified on a task, the warning appears as a red banner on the Aircraft Turn Details, Task Details and Fault Details pages, with detailed warnings issued by CMS displayed on the Task Part Changes or Fault Part Changes page on the IFS Cloud Mobile Maintenance mobile application. In the IFS Cloud Mobile Maintenance web application, the detailed warning can be viewed on the Part Removals and Part Installations tabs of the Task Details page, by expanding the row with the configuration warning. If a configuration warning is displayed for a task or fault it is also indicated via the Configuration Warning badge on the Work Tasks page/tab for the task.

Release to Service

Prior to releasing an aircraft to service, on the Release Aircraft page, the Configuration Warning field takes on values as follows:

If configuration warnings were raised, the line technician can return to specific task/fault card, review the reason why the warning was displayed and may decide to release the aircraft to service or fix the problem according to the definitions of the airline.
