Create Service Object

Explanation

Use this activity to create a new Service Object. The information required as mandatory inputs will be dependent on the Object Classification. The Object Classification determines whether an object is serial tracked/ movable (Serial) or not (Functional). When creating a serial object, the Description, Part, Serial Number and the Part Owner are all mandatory. For a Functional Object only the Object ID and the Description are mandatory. Further to this, information such as the Belongs to Object, Model etc. can be set up for a service object.

Model, Object Classification and Part lists will maintain the following dependencies:

• Serial Models (Serialized = Yes) can be connected to Serial Objects while Non-Serial Models (Serialized = No) can be connected to Functional Objects.
• When the user selects a Model, the parts list is filtered to show the parts that are connected to the selected model and the Object Classification is derived from the 'Serialized =Yes/No' attribute on the connected model.
• When the user selects the Object Classification, the model list is filtered to show models that comply with the object classification.
• When user selects a part that is associated with a model, the model is automatically set. However, setting the part only will not automatically set the object classification.

Note: After you save the record, the system automatically sets the object's operational status to 'In Operation'.

Prerequisites

• The Part must exist in IFS/Part Catalog.
• The Model must exist in the Model page and the Object Classification setting of the Service Object and the serialized flag on the Model should match.

System Effects

As a result of this activity, a new service object is created. Skills will be inherited to the service object automatically from the Model if applicable. Spares specified in the model will be displayed only if model is connected. You can enter additional information on the object after creation.
