This activity is used to add characteristics to a linear asset segment. This can be performed by using "Add Linear Asset Characteristics" option on Linear Asset Segments tab.
Technical class templates are used to define characteristics of a linear asset or segment. A basic data setup connects the technical class with the linear asset type. When creating a Linear Asset and defining it as a specific type the connected technical class (if any) will be fetched and connected to the linear asset.
When creating a segment the technical class for the linear asset is inherited to the segment. The individual attribute value for the segment can then be changed to reflect the actual segment attribute value. Attribute-values can be added on the linear asset as default values or overall valid values for the linear.
If the technical class is connected to the linear asset after creating segments, it is possible to inherit the technical class and its characteristics by choosing "Add Linear Asset Characteristics" option on selected segments. It opens an assistant with two Copy options. The attributes that are the same between the technical class on the linear asset and the technical class on the segment will be updated, depending on the option made.
A linear asset and segments into which the charasteristics are required to be added, should exist.
