Assign Part Revision to Modification

Explanation

This activity is used to assign valid part revisions to the modification.

Part revisions can be assigned in the Define Modification/Assign Part Revisions tab. The manual registration of assigned part revisions is required, for instance, when a part with more than one part revision is assigned to a modification that has the assignment type By Revision All Serials. At this instance, the valid part revisions will not be assigned to the modification automatically. You need to manually assign the relevant part revision(s) as described in this activity. Note: If the part assigned to a modification with the assignment type By Revision All Serials has only one part revision, this part revision is assigned automatically to the modification. When a part with one or more defined part revisions is assigned to a modification that has the assignment type By Serial Range, all valid part revisions are assigned automatically to the modification.

When a part revision is assigned to a modification you can update the given modification code and part revision combination with the following information: modification references, affected parts, task cards (with resources, material, and criticality) modification executions and the assignment of serials.

If the modification leads to the change of the serial's part number and/or part revision, the new part number and/or revision can be entered in this tab. You can also update information on the manufacturer of the serial. This is necessary when the manufacturer of the new part number is different to the manufacturer of the old one. Usually when a serial's part identity is changed, the manufacturer's part number that is registered on the serial is also changed. The new manufacturer's part number can be entered in this tab. If required, you can also enter new values for the maintenance program and maintenance group valid for the serial’s part number after the rename. Note: If the modification leads to the change of a part revision only, no automatic changes will be performed and it is used for informational purposes only.

If post maintenance checks are to be carried out after the modification is performed, the required post maintenance check definition can be connected to the assigned part revisions. A pending maintenance event will be generated for the post maintenance check when the planned maintenance event date of the check is within the given number of days forewarning.

If IFS/Complex Assembly MRO is used, following additional functionalities are available:

Note: Part identity change of assigned parts cannot be performed in MRO process, If it is required to change the part identity of the assigned parts in MRO process, assign parts have to be defined as an affected parts as well.
