Define Fault Deferral
Explanation
This activity is used to define fault deferral list codes. Deferral list
codes are used to defer a fault, i.e., allow for a delay before faults must
be corrected.
There are two types of deferrals, simple and complex.
- The simple deferral definition can be used immediately, has no maximum
delay defined, and can be used for all part revisions and functions. With
this type of fault deferral, when reporting the fault, you need to specify
the number of days and/or operational parameters that the fault can be deferred.
- The complex deferral definition requires different deferral items to
be defined with a maximum delay, and each deferral item must be associated
with the part revision for which it is valid. If the deferral should only
be valid for a certain function, then the function must be specified for
the applicable deferral items.
Prerequisites
N/A
System Effects
- A new deferral list code is created.
- If the Requires List Item Definition option is disabled, it
will be possible to use this fault deferral when reporting faults on any
part revisions and/or functions. The user can then decide how long the fault
can be deferred for each fault. For more information, refer to the activity
Enable Fault Deferral.
- It is possible to create default definitions for maximum delays by defining
deferral categories. Using default delays is optional. For more information,
refer to the activity Define Category with Default Maximum Delays.
- If the Requires List Item Definition option is enabled, item
codes must be defined before the deferral can be used. It is possible to
create item codes for the deferral. For more information, refer to the activity
Define Item Code.
