Enter and Maintain Putaway Zones

Explanation

This activity is used to enter and maintain putaway zones. A putaway zone defines an area within a site that has a defined ranking and is entered using the defined storage zones. Putaway zones are used for two purposes; as the priority rule when scanning the inventory for suitable/available locations when performing the inventory putaway process and/or as a priority rule when the automatic reservation is done in inventory. The storage bins included in a putaway zone is defined by using storage zones. A storage zone gathers a freely selected group(s) of storage bins within a site into zones and is entered using the levels in the warehouse navigator. The maximum number of bins used per part can also be defined.

Putaway zones can be defined on different levels. The following options are available:

(Commodity group 2 is used in the inventory part to identify putaway zones).

Putaway zones entered for Site, Asset Class - Frequency Class or Commodity Group - Frequency Class are then inherited to the connected inventory parts where additional zones with ranking can be added or removed. By entering putaway zones per group of parts, it is possible to avoid unnecessary setup for parts sharing the same putaway zones while still being able to add exceptions for specific parts. For example there could be putaway zones for buffer inventory that are common for a number of parts entered for a group while a specific pick location is entered for that specific part.

When setting up a putaway zone from a remote warehouse, a remote warehouse assortment with connected parts must be active. Only remote warehouse assortment connected inventory parts will inherit the remote warehouse putaway zone. Additional zones with ranking can be added or removed for the inventory parts.

When defining a putaway zone in the Inventory Part, note that putaway zones can be defined in a more flexible way by using, for example, % and ; to define a zone that contains, for example, a number of bays. This can be convenient when there is a need to use the maximum number of bins for a part over a greater area than, for example, just one bay.The setup of putaway zones is shown and defined in two different tabs:In the Operative Values tab, you can view information about putaway zones that will be used for this part. This is a summarized view of putaway zones defined on a group level as well as for the specific inventory part. In the Inventory Part Values tab, you can enter putaway zones that are specific for the current inventory part. These zones together with zones from the putaway zone part groups will be shown in the Operative Values tab to give the full picture.
