Enter Default Packing Instruction
Explanation
This activity is used to define packing instructions which will be retrieved
to customer orders based on certain criteria. This task should be performed
by a system administrator or an equivalent person.
When entering a packing instruction, the following combinations of
attributes can be used with priority orders:
- Part/Site/Customer/Delivery Address/Packing Instruction
- Part/Customer/Delivery Address/Packing Instruction
- Part/Site/Customer/Packing Instruction
- Part/Customer/Packing Instruction
- Part/Site/Packing Instruction
- Part/Packing Instruction
- Capacity Requirement Group/Packing Instruction
In
addition to the attributes mentioned above, Min Qty and UoM can be specified
for each of the seven combinations. Min Qty can have a positive / NULL
value. If the Min Qty has a positive value, UoM field is required. UoM is
automatically filled when the part is selected. For a combination that does
not have a site, part UoM will be fetched from the part catalog. For a
combination that has a site, part UoM will be fetched from Sales
Part's/Non-Inventory Sales Part’s/Package-Part’s Sales UoM.
Users must remove the automatically fetched UoM, when saving a
combination without Min Qty and UoM. However, combinations with the Min Qty
are prioritized when fetching packing instructions for the customer order
line.
Prerequisites
- At least one packing instruction for customer
order must exist.
- A capacity requirement group, part number, site, customer and delivery
address must have been defined.
System Effects
- A packing instruction is defined for a combination of attributes.
- The default packing instruction can be retrieved to the customer order
line and used for automatic packing in the customer order shipment process.
- When retrieving the packing instructions, the Sales Qty of the
customer order line and the Min Qty value of the default packing
instructions for customer order page are compared with the respective
combinations. When the existing Sales Qty is modified and if there is
only one combination where the defined Min Qty is greater than the Sales
Qty and there are no other packing instructions for that data set, that
packing instruction will remain same on the customer order line.
