Use this activity to enter product families. This optional task is to be performed by a system administrator or equivalent person. The product family information is manufacturing related and is used in IFS Manufacturing to group parts in product structures.
The product family code *, Common, is predefined when the system is installed. Product Family is an optional field in the Inventory Part/Main tab Classification section. By creating product families and linking similar types of parts to the same product family code, you can simplify searches. Master Scheduling also groups forecasts and demands by product families.
