Scrap from Stock
Explanation
Scrapping is normally done when a part has become obsolete or faulty or its
expiration date has been reached or exceeded. To scrap individual parts, indicate
the desired quantity. It is also possible to scrap a handling unit and its content.
When scrapping a handling unit all the content of the handling unit is scrapped
meaning all the parts and quantities that are packed in to the handing unit.
For parts with availability check, the system will also check if the scrapping
will affect existing orders.
You can scrap parts from Scrap Inventory Part page or using
Scrap Handling Unit dialog reached from the Handling Unit
or Handling Units in Stock pages.
Enable the Print Serviceability Tag option to order and print the
serviceability tag report for the scrapped part. Note: If the value of
the PRNT_SERVICE_TAG_ACS object property in System Definition/Object
Property is set to TRUE, by default this option will be enabled.
Prerequisites
- The part cannot be locked for counting.
- A standard cost must have been specified for the part (unless there
is an override cost in the inventory part register).
- The part cannot be a blow-through or a phantom part (planning method
T, O, or K).
- The current location cannot be an inspection location.
- The inventory location type must be picking, floor stock, or production
line.
- The scrapping cause must have been entered in
Scrapping Causes.
- The parts cannot be reserved.
- The ownership type of the parts cannot be Supplier Loaned.
- When scrapping a handling unit the same prerequisits mentioned above
apply for all the parts and quantities that make up the content of the handling
unit.
System Effects
- An inventory part is scrapped from stock and the number in the Total
Quantity Available column decreases. Note: Serial-handled parts should
be scrapped with extra care since the same serial number cannot be received
again once scrapped.
- If the Print Serviceability Tag option is enabled, the serviceability
tag is printed for the scrapped part. The serviceability tag is ordered
in the Scrapped serviceability status. Serviceability tag refers
to the tag used in the Aviation industry to clearly identify an uninstalled
component or assembly and its current status.
