Create Prototype Shop Order
Explanation
Use this activity to manually create a new prototype shop order for a
specified part.
To create a prototype shop order:
- Enter the site and the part number of the part that you want to
manufacture as a prototype.
- Enter the desired Lot Size that you want to manufacture.
- Select Prototype in the Order Type drop-down.
- In the Scheduling
Direction drop-down, select either
Forward Scheduling or
Backwards Scheduling.
- With backward scheduling, the system schedules material
requirements and operations based on the Need Date that you
enter. The start date is equal to the need date minus the
total manufacture time.
- With forward scheduling, you enter the Earliest Start Date.
The finish date is equal to sum of the earliest start date and the
total manufacture time.
- Manually select the revision/alternate to use in the Structure or Routing
sections. For a prototype shop order you can use structure/revision type
either Manufacturing or Repair. Also alternates in status
Tentative can be used for prototype orders.
Prerequisites
An inventory part must exist for the site.
A manufacturing or prototype structure revision/alternate in status
Tentative, Plannable or Buildable must exist.
To add operations, a manufacturing or prototype routing
revision/alternate in status Tentative, Plannable or
Buildable must exist.
System Effects
As a result of this activity the system creates a new shop order with
Order Type set to Prototype for the selected part. When this
happens, the system creates material requirements and schedules operations according to the
part, structure revision and alternative, and routing revision and alternative
that you selected.
