Generate Order Based Lot/Batch Numbers for Shop Order
Explanation
Use this activity to generate and reserve order based lot/batch numbers
to a shop order. The
reserved lot/batch numbers are used when the system receives parts into inventory.
To generate lot/batch numbers, click Traceability and then Generate
Order Based Lot/Batch No. Below options are available in the dialog:
- Enter the quantity for the lot in the Expected Quantity for
Lot field and click Generate. Repeat for the desired
number of lots.
- For the last lot, click OK instead of Generate
and the dialog will be closed after the lot/batch number is
generated.
Prerequisites
- The part must have Lot/Batch
Tracking set to Order Based
in the Part page.
- The shop order must have type set to Manufacturing,
Repair or Prototype.
System Effects
- The system reserves lot/batch numbers for
the shop order following the standard syntax of [Order No]-[Release No]-[Sequence
No] plus an index number. Thus a shop order with order no XB1001, release no
1, sequence no 1 would have a generated lot/batch number XB1001-1-1-1. If the
part being manufactured allows more than one lot per order, you can reserve
multiple lot/batches; this will increment the last number shown in the generated
example to give you XB1001-1-1-2, XB1001-1-1-3 etc.
- When the part is set to use order-based lot-tracking with only one lot per
production order allowed, the shop order will automatically reserve a single
lot/batch number for the entire quantity on the shop order. If the part allows
multiple lots per order, lot/batch numbers must be manually generated.
- A new record is created on Part Lot Batch
page.
