Generate Lot/Batch Numbers for Shop Order
Explanation
Use this activity to generate and reserve lot/batch numbers to a shop order
or shop order requisition. When reserved to a shop order requisition, the lot/batch
numbers are transferred to the shop order created from the requisition. The
reserved lot/batch numbers are used when the system receives parts into inventory.
A lot/batch numbers are generated and reserved using the Lot/Batch
Number Reservation dialog. To access the dialog, click Traceability and then Generate
Lot/Batch No.
In the Lot/Batch Number Reservation dialog:
- To reserve alphanumeric prefix for lot/batch numbers, enter that number
in the Lot Batch String field. By default, the value entered in the
Lot Batch String field on the Inventory
Part/Manufacturing page appears. If the field is left empty order based lot/batch number(s)
are generated.
- To reserve a lot/batch range, enter values for Number of Batches
and Qty per Batch fields. Once you specify a value in one of
these fields, the system will calculate the other value. You can make
manual changes to the value calculated by the system, but the system
will not adjust the other field for the changes. After you enter the
information, the system creates the appropriate set of lot/batch
reservations records.
Note: The field Number of
Batches is only available for parts with the Allow Many Lots Per Production
Order enabled on the Part page.
