Reserve Serial Numbers for Shop Order
Explanation
Use this activity to reserve a range of serial numbers for a specific shop
order or shop order requisition. When reserved to a shop order requisition,
the serial numbers are transferred to the shop order created from the requisition.
The reserved serial numbers are used when the system receives parts into inventory.
Serial numbers are reserved using the Serial Number Reservations
dialog. To access the dialog from:
- Shop Order, Shop Orders, Shop
Order Requisition, Shop Order Requisitions and
Shop Floor Workbench, click Traceability and then
Serial Number Reservations.
- Production Line Management/Shop Orders, click
Serial Reservation and then Serial Number Reservations.
In the Serial Number Reservations dialog:
- To reserve non-consecutive serial numbers, add a new line and then
manually type the
numbers in the Serial No field for each serial number.
- To reserve a serial number range, click
Sequence. Add a new line and then specify the range in the
From Serial No and To Serial No fields. To add a suffix and/or
a prefix, enter the characters in the Prefix and
Suffix fields. If you want to generate a sequence with zeros added to the beginning
of each serial number up to the total defined length, enter the desired
length in the Length
field.
Note: If the inventory part has the structure effectively
set to serial, only numeric values can be reserved as serial numbers. You cannot
reserve serial numbers that already exist on the
Part Serial
page or that are reserved on another order.
