Scrap of Non-Issued Components
Explanation
Scrapping can occur at various stages of the manufacturing process. For example,
if a component is cut incorrectly or broken, you have the option to scrap the
component on the shop order and request replacement material. In such an instance
the demand for the component material will be increased if necessary
This activity is used to scrap component material not yet registered as issued.
Normally this applies to component parts set to be automatically issued using
the backflush feature.
To scrap non-issued component materials from:
- Shop Order page. Click Material Actions and
then Report Component Scrap. Enable the Scrap
option for the component to scrap and click Next.
- Shop Order Operations Reporting and
Work Center Operations Reporting. Select the
operation on which the scrapped component was detected and click
Report Component Scrap. Enable the Scrap
option for the component to scrap and click Next.
- Shop Floor Workbench. Select the operation on which
the scrapped component was detected and click Scrap Component.
Enable the Scrap option for the component to scrap and
click Next.
- Shop Floor Workbench/Materials. Expand the operation,
select the component to scrap from the Materials
tab and click Scrap Component.
- Operation Guide, section
Materials. Select the component to scrap and click Scrap.
- Shop Order Materials, Shop Order/Materials and Disposition Shop Order/Materials
pages. Select the component to scrap, click Component Scrap
and then Report Scrap.
In the assistant:
- Enter the Qty to Scrap and select a Scrap
Reason.
- Optionally, select the Operation No on which the
scrapped component was detected. When reporting scrap from an operation
line, this operation number appears by default.
The scrapped component quantity will be automatically issued from
inventory using the backflush hierarchy logic.
Scrapping of components can also be performed with MRO shop orders of the
MRO Disassembly, Repair, and MRO Assembly types. However, due to
the pegging structure used to maintain order relationships, you can only scrap
materials that have the Inventory Order supply code, those that are added
manually to the shop order, and not pegged to another MRO order level.
Prerequisites
- The shop order must be released.
- No issued quantities is available to scrap for the component.
- Enough material must be available in inventory.
- A scrap reason must have been defined.
- On a repair shop order, the component part to scrap must not be the
part to repair (the shop order part).
- On a disassembly shop order, the component part to scrap must not be
the part to disassemble (the shop order part).
System Effects
As a result of this activity:
- A manufacturing material history transaction will be created logging
the scrap.
- An BACFLUSH inventory transaction history transaction will be
created for the material issued. The system will locate and issue components according to the backflush
hierarchy.
- The status of the shop material line will be set to Issued.
- The status of the shop order will be set to Started.
- The quantity scrapped on the component material line will be increased.
If the scrapped quantity of the component on the shop order exceeds the
planned scrap quantity, the quantity required for the component will be
increased.
