Sequence Shop Order Operations
Explanation
This activity is used to schedule shop order operations in sequence after
each others from a given start date/time and to minimize the total setup
time.
To perform this activity from the Shop Order Operations
or Shop Floor Workbench pages, select the
operations to be sequenced, click Scheduling and then click
Sequence Operations.
To perform this activity from the Machine Operations Scheduling
chart:
- To sequence all operations for a resource or work center loaded in
the Gantt chart, open the card for the resource or day and click Sequence.
- To sequence all operations for a resource or work center on one or
several days, select the relevant day(s) for the resource and click
Sequence.
- To sequence specific operations, select the relevant operations and
click Sequence.
In the first assistant step, enable the Include option
for the operations so sequence. Optionally, enter an Operation
Priority for the operations.
In the second assistant step:
- Enter the characteristic codes you want to base the sequencing order
on in the Characteristics for Sequencing Order list.
If
a Sequencing Priority has been set for any characteristic
codes on the Work Center/Characteristics tab,
those will be appear automatically.
- In the Preferred Resource field, select the
resource on which you want the operations to be scheduled.
- In the Start Date/Time field, enter the date and time
on which you want the first operation to be scheduled to start.
- If you want to avoid slack between operations preceding the
sequenced operation on the same shop order when rescheduled to a later
date/time, enable Compress Operations.
- If you want to schedule setup according to the characteristic value
combinations, enable Use Setup Matrix.
- If you want operation blocks to be created and connected to
operations sharing the same characteristic value, enable Create Operation Blocks.
Prerequisites
- Shop order operations must belong to the same work center.
- The status of the shop order operations cannot be Cancelled
or Closed.
- The Schedule Direction of the shop order operations
cannot be Manual Scheduling.
- The site should not use constraint based scheduling server.
- To create operation blocks, two or more of the operations cannot belong
to the same shop order.
- To base the sequencing order on characteristic code(s), they must
have been entered on the Work Center/Characteristics tab.
- To automatically default the characteristic code(s) to use for sequencing,
the Sequencing Priority field should have a value for
the characteristic code(s) on the Work Center/Characteristics
tab.
- To use the setup matrix, the Enable Setup Matrix
option must be enabled in Work Center/Characteristics
tab for at least one of the characteristic codes entered in Characteristics
for Sequence Order list.
- An operation cannot have a lower operation priority value relative another
included operation from the same order with lower operation sequence number.
I.e., operation priority cannot be used to change the order of the operations
within an order.
System Effects
- The Schedule Direction for the included operations
will be set to Forward Scheduling and scheduled sequentially
of each others with the first operation starting on the start date/time
provided in the assistant. Operations will be ordered following below priority:
- Priority and Sort
Order defined in the Characteristics for Sequence Order
list.
- Operation Priority defined
in Operations to Sequence list. Operations with a lower
value are scheduled before operations with a higher value.
- Operation original Planned Start Date/Time.
Operations with an earlier original planned start date/time are scheduled
before operations with a later start date/time.
- The preferred resource selected in the assistant will be set as the
preferred resource for the operations. If this work center resource is available,
operations will be scheduled on it.
- Operations parallel to, and succeeding the rescheduled operations will
also be set to Forward Scheduling and rescheduled.
- If Compress Operations is enabled, and
the new date/time for the rescheduled operation is later than the original
date/time, operations on the same shop order preceding the rescheduled operation
will be set to Backwards Scheduling and rescheduled with
a Finish Date adjacent to the rescheduled operations new
Start Date.
- If Setup Matrix is enabled, all except
the first operation will be scheduled with a setup time fetched from the
Work Center/Characteristics tab considering the combinations
for the characteristic codes entered in the Characteristics for
Sequence Order list. If several characteristic codes have a setup
matrix defined, the longest setup time will be used.
- If Create Operation Blocks is enabled,
an operation block will be created and connected to all operations sharing
the same characteristic values for the characteristic codes entered in the
Characteristics for Sequence Order list. If no characteristic
codes have been entered, or the operations does not have any value for them,
an operation block will be created and connected to all those operations.
- If any of the operations are already connected to an operation block,
they will be disconnected from it. If this leaves the block with no operations
connected to it, the block will be deleted.
