Calculate MS Level 1 for Single Part
Explanation
This activity is used to calculate MS level 1 for a
single part. This calculates forecast and actual demand, traces orders, and
provides action proposals. The master production schedule is calculated and created from
forecasts on level 0, the forecast you enter on level 1, and the actual backlog
of orders. This gives you quick access to the results of the forecasts you
entered.
Prerequisites
To perform this activity, you must have entered master
schedule level 1 parts and registered forecasts. The registration of level 1
parts can be handled manually or automatically from the level 0 calculation.
System Effects
- The system's calculation suggests new orders and
actions for existing orders.
- MS results in a gross demand, which forms the
basis of MRP.
- At the start of each calculation, period 1 is
updated. This means that the system considers the run date. If the program
was run on Tuesday and the period used is a five-day week that includes
Friday, then period 1 will be from Tuesday to Friday. If the program is run
on Wednesday, period 1 is from Wednesday to Friday.
- The projected quantity of the part on-hand is analyzed and displayed
in the Projected Balance field in the Master Schedule
by Part/Master Schedule Grid tab. The quantity
on-hand is also updated. This value is used to calculate the development
of quantity on-hand and the quantity available to promise.
Note: In the master schedule Level 1 calculation,
manufactured/acquired split, supplier split ,standard multiple quantity and
lot sizes will be considered.
