Calculate Project MS Level 1
Explanation
This activity is used to perform project master scheduling (project MS) for
either a single part, or for all the parts belonging to a specific site and
project planned netting group (PNG). This process uses information from the
forecasted demand that you have entered and the actual backlog of orders. It
calculates forecasted demand and actual orders, traces orders, and provides
action messages. When initiating a project MS process for a site or PNG you
may set it up so that project material requirements planning (project MRP) and
material requirements planning (MRP) are run immediately after project MS.
Prerequisites
- A project MS part needs to be defined.
- Forecasted demands need to be registered.
System Effects
- If you perform project MS for a site or PNG, one or more background
jobs will be executed to perform project MS and, optionally, project MRP
and/or MRP.
- The project MS process generates proposals as required. Shop order requisitions
and purchase requisitions may also be created for fixed proposals, if you
have indicated that requisitions need to be created. During the process,
existing proposals and requisitions in the Planned status for the
part are removed and new ones will be created if necessary. These proposals
are created for the forecast activities.
- Material transfer requisitions may also be created to transfer material
between activities.
- Action messages may be displayed in the Master Schedule
by Part/Action Messages tab or in the Master Schedule
Action Proposals page.
- The gross demand per activity is made available and this forms the basis
for the MRP calculation.
- The projected quantity of the part on-hand is analyzed and displayed
in the Projected Balance field in the Master Schedule
by Part/Master Schedule Grid tab. The quantity
on-hand is also updated. This value is used to calculate the development
of quantity on-hand and the quantity available to promise.
