Each part consists of substances. The substances a part consists of is defined in the Part /Composition by Weight tab.
The information you enter will be used to calculate the physical properties for the part.
When you work with recipe structure and the structure breakdowns through infinite structure levels, the information in part composition is used to get the breakdown per substance and to calculate different physical properties for the recipe part.
For the calculation of the physical properties for the part in the part composition the application uses the following formulae.
(For all the formulae below, the units are in standard units. Any other units
that may exist are converted into standard units prior to the calculation).
Below is a list of abbreviations that are used in the formulae:
δp = Density for the part
δps = Density Solid for the part
δs
= Density for the substance
WSs = Weight Share (%) per substance
Density Solid
The density solid for the part is calculated as a function of the parts which are solid contents by weight, the density for the part and the density of the volatile substances and their weight share.
where, T Є Substance Type = Solvent, non-VOC Solvent and Water.
Solid Contents by Weight (%)
The Solid Contents by Weight (%) is the summary of all solid substances weight share (%).
where, T Є Substance Type
= Additive, Binder, Filler and Pigment.
Formulae for Fields in the VOC Area
VOC Weight (%)
VOC Weight (%) - Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) is calculated by subtracting the summary weight share percentage from 1, for all substances that are of the substance type, Additive, Filler, Binder, Pigment or Water.
where, T Є Substance Type = Pigment, Filler, Binder, Additive and Water.
VOC (g/l)
VOC (g/l) is calculated by multiplying the VOC Weight (%) by the density for the part and express it in g/l.
VOC (lb/gal(US))
VOC (lb/gal(US)) is the same as VOC (g/l), when the value is converted.
Formulae for Fields in the VOC Excl Non-VOC Solvents Area
VOC Weight (%)
VOC Weight (%) - Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) is calculated by subtracting the summary weight share percentage from 1, for all substances that are of the substance type, Additive, Filler, Binder, Pigment, Water or Non-VOC Solvent.
where, T Є Substance Type
= Pigment, Filler, Binder, Additive, Water and Non-VOC Solvent.
VOC
VOC (g/l) is calculated as the VOC Weight (%) multiplied with the density for the part and expressed in g/l.
VOC (lb/gal(US))
VOC (lb/gal(US)) is the same as VOC (g/l), when the value is converted.
