This activity is used to add components to a configuration structure alternate. I.e., components potentially required to manufacture, prototype or repair the parent part.
To add a component, create a new record on the Components tab, enter the Part to add and the quantity required to manufacture, prototype or repair one unit of the parent part in Qty per Assembly field. Specify the probability that the component is required as a percentage in the Component Usage Factor field. Optionally, connect the component to the operation where it is required. If applicable, add or edit attributes for scrap, reservation/issue etc. Back-office rules can be defined specifying the set of configuration values when the component should be selected.
A configuration structure alternate must exist. If Structure/Routing Update on the Site/Manufacturing page is set to Restricted or Enhanced, the status of the alternate must not be Buildable.
As a result of this activity, components are added to the configuration structure alternate.
