This activity is used to calculate a part's order manufacturing lead time. The manufacturing lead time is calculated from the default routing and lot size of the part; it considers the setup, move, operation times, and the efficiency factor entered for the operation. The system also considers information about queue time and shifts, i.e., the number of work hours per day from the work center where the operation is performed. You specify whether you want to run the calculation for one part at a time or for all parts in a specific site.
Use the Manufacturing Lead Time Calculation page to calculate the manufacturing lead time of a part. This is calculated from the operation list and default lot size of the part; it considers the setup, move, and operation times, as well as the efficiency factor entered for the operation. Calculation will also consider about overlap for all the sites. The system also considers information about queue time and shifts, i.e., the number of work hours per day from the work center where the operation is performed. Controls button can be used to change the controls in calculating manufacturing lead time. You specify whether you want to run the calculation for individual parts or for all parts in a specific site. The calculation runs in the background, allowing you to continue working with the system as usual. The results of the lead time calculation are filled in the fields in Inventory Part/Manufacturing tab. The calculation separates the lead times into fixed and variable lead times by day and by hour. The times are displayed independent of lot size.
This activity requires that a part must be defined with a routing.
