Use this activity to set a connection between a parent part and one of its components. Note that this functionality is only available in shop order.
A structure alternate in tentative status must exist.
As a result of this activity the parent part will use the manufacturing date of this component, plus the shelf life of the parent part, to calculate the expiration date of the parent part. If the parent part does not have a shelf life defined, the expiration date of the parent part will instead inherit the expiration date from the selected component. If the Expiration Date Origin option is enabled for several components in the product structure or recipe structure, several expiration dates will be calculated and the date closest in the future will be set as the expiration date of the parent part.
