Update Product Family and Product Code

Explanation

This activity is used to update product family and product code. You can do this for a specific site or for all sites to which you have access.

Use the Update Product Family and Product Code page to update product family and product code. You enter a product family and product code manually for parts on level zero (0). The update starts with calculation of parts whose lowest level is zero (0), then goes through all components in their product structures

Note: Since all inventory parts are updated, this calculation should not be run during regular working hours. It can take a long time if many parts are involved.

Prerequisites

This activity requires that the product family and product code must be defined and entered for specific level 0 parts.

System Effects

As a result of this activity:

• The system updates the product family and the product code for part structures on a site or sites.
• It updates the Lowest Level field in the inventory part register.
• Updates do not occur for parts with planning method O or T, since these are blow-through parts.
• The job will only analyze Plannable and Buildable '*'-alternates.
