Define Organization Structure

Explanation

This activity is used to define and arrange organization units that from the organization structure. The arrangement of organization units should be hierarchic, with subordinate units connected to their respective parents.

Note: Matrix organization structures can be shared between multiple companies, while company structures are company specific.

Navigate to Graphical Organization Structure and select New Structure option. The new structure can be a company or a matrix organization.

If you select the Exclusive Reg option, only employees assigned to the organization unit will be able to register data in it. If you select Exclude from Organization Chart, the structure will not be displayed when you generate the organization chart.

 Use the Direct Supervisor Selection” field to specify how the supervisor should be selected in the application. Available options are:

1. Based on immediate parent position.

When deriving the immediate supervisor, system will look for only the immediate Position and will traverse in the organization tree until a supervisor is found who has access to the employee’s organization.

2. Based on immediate parent position or above.

When deriving the supervisor, system will traverse in the position structure within the same Organization code until a supervisor is found. If not found, will take the next upper organization code and again traverse the position structure until a supervisor is found. This will continue until a supervisor is found. Here access to the organization would not be considered.

Prerequisites

To create a structure for a new company, the company must have been created with New Company assistant.

To create a matrix organization structure to an existing Company structure, a matrix structure ID has to be registered in the system.

System Effects

As a result of this activity, the organization structure of an organization will be defined or modified.
