Analyze Products per Component

Explanation

This activity is used to perform several analyses in order to identify which parts are suitable to set as buffered parts. Following attributes can be further evaluated which helps prior to setting a part as a buffered part:

• Parent parts where the component is used.
• Whether the part exists in a critical path in structure.
• Cost of the part.
• Unprotected lead time of the part.

Use the Products Per Component page to identify products defined for component parts. It consists of similar information included in the Component Summarized Where Used page. This information will help you to understand and identify critical components which are suitable to define as buffered parts.

Prerequisites

Part cost calculation needs to have been performed and saved to cost set 1.
