Reserve Serial Numbers for DOP
Explanation
This activity is used to reserve a range of serial numbers for a
specific DOP header or DOP order. This means that, when receiving into inventory, the
reserved serial numbers will be used.
To reserve serial numbers click Serial Reservations and then
Serial Number Reservations.
In the Serial Number Reservations dialog:
- To reserve non-consecutive serial numbers, add a new row and then
manually type the
numbers in the Serial No field for each serial number.
- To reserve a serial number range, click
Sequence. Add a new row and then specify the range in the
From Serial No and To Serial No fields. To add a suffix and/or
a prefix, enter the characters in the Prefix and
Suffix fields.
- If you want to generate a sequence with zeros added to the beginning
of each serial number up to the total defined length. Enter the desired
length in the Length
field.
Note: If the inventory part has
the structure effectivity set to serial, only numeric values can be reserved as serial
numbers. You cannot reserve serial numbers that already exist in the
Part Serial page or are reserved on another order.
Prerequisites
- The DOP header part is defined as an inventory
serial tracking part on the Part page.
- To reserve serial numbers to a DOP header, the DOP header must be in
Created status.
- To reserve serial numbers to a DOP order, the DOP order must be in
Unreleased or
Netted status.
System Effects
As a result of this activity, the system reserves a range of
serial numbers for a specific DOP header or DOP order. The reserved serial
numbers can be viewed on the Serial No Reservations tab.
