Release Demands
Explanation
This activity is used to release the resource and material demands for a
maintenance order. You can choose to release demands when setting the maintenance
order to the Under Preparation status or while the maintenance order
is still in this status. The
Set Maintenance Order to Under Preparation activity describes how to release
demands as part of the status change. This activity describes how to release
demands by using the Release Demands option.
When material demands are released, material on the connected task cards
and subtasks will be made available to the MRP (material requirements planning).
This allows the MRP to initiate order proposals/supplies for the maintenance
order material demands at an early stage. Once the material demand is released
you have the ability to reserve or peg material against a supply, i.e., inventory
stock, purchase order or purchase requisition. The benefit of this feature is
to minimize the risk of stock shortage especially for items with long delivery
lead times.
When resource demands are released, resource activities will be generated
for each resource on the task card or subtask. For instance, if two mechanics
are planned on a task card, one activity will be created per mechanic. Resources
are planned for the duration of the task card. The planned start date of the
resource activity will be set to the planned start of the task card or subtask
or if this does not exist at this stage, the planned start of the maintenance
order. The planned finish date is calculated based on the planned hours. The
activity origin of the resource activities will be set to Maint Order Task
Card. Resource activities can be viewed in the Resource
Activities page. The following origin keys on the generated activities
can be used to identify the maintenance order, event or task card for which
the resource is valid:
- Origin key 1 - The maintenance event on which the resource is included
- Origin key 2 - The task card sequence of the task card to which the
resource is connected
- Origin key 3 - The task card resource sequence
- Origin key 4 - The maintenance order to which the event is connected
- Origin key 5 - The ID of the task card or subtask to which the resource
is connected
Once demands are released, any further changes to resources and material
while the maintenance order is in the Under Preparation status will automatically
release new/changed demands. This can be:
- Releasing new or changed material demands
- Removing material demands that are no longer needed from the MRP
- Creating resource activities for new resource demands
- Updating resource activities for changed resource demands
- Removing resource activities for resource demands that are no longer
needed
To perform this activity, click the Release Demands option from the
Manage Maintenance Page.
- Using the
Inventory Part in Stock Reservations page you can verify that the
material demand is released. Verify that the material demand is created
with the Maintenance Order type. Once the maintenance order is released
and a work order is created for it, the order type of the corresponding
demand lines will be changed from Maintenance Order to Work Order.
- Using the Resource Activities page, you can
verify that resource activities have been generated for the resource demand.
Search for the maintenance order, event and/or task card ID to which the
resource is connected and verify the activity origin of the resource activity
is set to Maint Order Task Card. Once the maintenance order is transferred
to a work order, included resource and material demands will be transferred
and created as demands on the corresponding work task. The resource activities
will become resource activities on the work task and the activity origin
will be changed to Task Management Line.
Prerequisites

- Resource and material demands must be included on the maintenance order.
- Resource demands must not have already been released.
System Effects

order.
- Resource activities will be generated for the resources on the maintenance
order.
- The Demands Released field will be enabled on the maintenance
order and the Release Demands option will be disabled.
- The workshop on the maintenance order can only be changed to a workshop
within the same site.
