Perform this activity to directly execute or
schedule a history logging for a project. A history logging takes a snapshot
of activities and object connection information at a particular instance. The
snapshot would include all the important parameters which describe the progress
in a project.
If the project has history logging,
history logging records will be displayed under the
History tab and
graphs for Committed, Scheduled Work, Earned Value, Used and Actual
cost or hours will be displayed under
the History Graph tab in the
Project Monitoring
page. Depending on the level in the project structure, the graph will show
values for the whole project, subproject or activity.
To perform this activity, go to the Project Monitoring page of the project for which the history should be logged. Select the History Logging option from the History action command. History Logging on Project assistant page will appear. Provide required details and complete the assistant. This also can be done through the History action command on Project Scope and Schedule page.
This activity can be performed through Projects overview page as well. Query for the project and select the project which you want to perfom history logging. Select History Logging option from the command menu.
A scheduled history logging must be turned off when the project has been completed or closed, otherwise unnecessary logging will continue. A scheduled history logging can be deleted from Database Task Schedules page.
A project activity must exist.
When logging is performed, data concerning the history logging is saved. Note that every history logging saves a set of data, and each set can be over ridden by the latest set of data if desired. Also, if the project is big, history logging could decrease system performance.
