Analyze History Logging Data
Explanation
The history logging data consists of snapshots of activity and object connection
information for all activities, including important parameters which describe
the progress of your project. You can analyze the history logging data to assure
that the progress performance is in accordance with your project plans, or at
early stage discover any variances from the plan. History data is created either
through history logging or when a baseline is created. History logging data
is presented in several different perspectives:
- In
Project
Monitoring/ History tab, an overview of all the history records
for the project are listed. Information about how and when the record was
created is shown.
- In Project History page, the complete
history data for the project for a given history date is presented.
- In Activity History
under the History command group in
Project Scope and Schedule page, the activity
history is shown for given history dates.
- In
Project
Monitoring/History
Graph tab, you can view a graph which shows the parameters Committed,
Scheduled Work, Earned Value, Used and Actual. These parameters are shown
for the whole project, subproject or activity, depending on what is selected
in the tree navigator. In the event that more than one baseline is set on
the same date, this date point in the graph will be based only on the earliest "Pre-Baseline"
data and the latest "Baseline" data.
Prerequisites
At least one history logging must have been performed. This history record
can be taken either when doing a manual history logging, a scheduled history
logging, or when setting a baseline revision.
