Create Resource Forecast Lines
Explanation
Resource forecast lines contain the estimated hours. A resource forecast
may consist of a number of lines for each resource depending on the resource
criteria.
This activity is used to add a resource forecast line to an existing resource
forecast version.
Once the lines have been created you can then spread or reset the hours.
The following activities are generally performed using the command buttons:
- Spread forecasted hours and view the spread.
- Set Estimate to Complete (ETC) hours based on previous ETC hours or
Estimate at Completion (EAC) hours.
- If the cost of the resource or postings are changed later it is possible
to use the Update Cost command and update the change.
Prerequisites
- Resource Groups must be defined in the
Resource Groups.
- The resource group must be defined as Use in Projects.
- Capacity and cost should be defined for the resource groups.
- Resource Criteria must be defined in the
Project/Resource Criteria
tab.
- A resource forecast version should exist.
- If the project has mandatory code parts the posting should be set up.
- Spread profiles should be defined in the Project
Spread Profile window if spreading should be done automatically by
using predefined spread profiles.
System Effects
- The resource forecast line will be created and the ETC hours will be
spread linear or nonlinear based on a spread profile.
- ETC Hours and ETC Cost will be updated for the resource forecast line.
If the cost of the resource or postings are changed later it is possible
to use the Update Cost menu option and update the change.
