Spread Linear

Explanation

Perform this activity to spread the planned hours for the resource linearly within the Early Start and Early Finish date of the activity. If the spread profile on the resource planning line is anything other than Linear, it will be updated to Linear when performing this activity.

In resource planning it is only possible to spread hours linearly, but if project resource forecast it used, then it is possible to select any user-defined spread profile which will then be transferred to resource planning if the resource forecast is transferred to resource planning. This activity could also be used if the calendar has been updated on the resource group to reflect the new schedule.

After the spreading has been done perform this activity to also verify how the consumption of the resource by the activity compares to the total consumption (by other activities) for the period of the activity.

Prerequisites

A resource should be assigned to an activity.

System Effects

The planned hours are spread within the Early Start Date and Latest Finish Date of the activity.
The Spread Profile column shows Linear.
