Project Data Synchronization

Explanation

This activity is to create/edit synchronization for Import/Export Project data. Project data in IFS/Project are Project WBS, Dependencies, Constraints, Resource assignments and Activity Class Assignments.

Import of project data will create new records, or update the information in existing projects, in Primavera. The master data must exist in Primavera before it can be assigned to a project in Primavera through a project synchronization.

Export of project data will create new records, or update the information in existing projects, in IFS/Project. The master data must exist in IFS/Project before it can be assigned to a project in IFS/Project through a project synchronization.

Sample synchronizations for import/export project data are created and saved in Primavera Gateway Synchronizations and can be reused any number of times to perform a project data analysis, or to initiate a project data synchronization.

It is possible to review business objects details before synchronizing data to Primavera/IFS. Executing review functionality is a recommended part of the process of synchronizing data. While the review is optional, but recommended, the synchronization can also be run without it by using the Run command.

Synchronization Messages will give information about data that may need to be rectified for a successful synchronization. If project data import/export results exception type synchronization message, project data must be rectified accordingly in IFS/Primavera. Continue to the activity Analyze Synchronization Messages to get more detailed assistance on how to rectify problems. It is optional to act on the warnings type of synchronization messages.

Synchronizing data between IFS/Project and Primavera is described in detail in Sharing Project Data using Primavera Gateway.
