This activity is used to view, modify, or enter activity sub types. Together with the activity types, the sub types can be used to describe a Business Activity. For example if the Business Activity is a meeting, the activity sub type can describe what type of meeting it is. Activity Sub Types are entered on the Business Activity Sub Types page.
If you want a business activity sub type to be used only for a certain type of activities, select a value in the Activity Type column. For example, if Meeting is selected as Activity Type, the sub type can only be used for meetings. If no Activity Type is selected, the sub type will be available to use for any type of activity. If the sub type should be used as default value when activities with the selected Activity Type are created, select the Default for Activity Type option.
Business Activities can be used to log past interactions like calls or e-mails. If you don't want these log activities to be changed, you can select the Read-Only option for the sub type. Activities created with the selected sub type will then be set as read-only and cannot be updated. It is recommended to set these sub types as hidden so that you cannot use them for manual creation of activities. Normally this type of activities will be created automatically from a workflow or integration.
