Perform this activity to connect one or multiple shift pattern templates to a person resource which can then be used when generating the resource's schedule. Connecting a shift pattern template can be performed in Resource Details, Service Resource Details, Resource Shift Pattern Template and Resource Shift Pattern Mapping pages. For crew resources, the periods for which the shift pattern template should be used can be defined on the Resource Crew page.
For the shift pattern template to take effect, the Use Shift Pattern option on the resource must be set to Yes. Multiple resource shift pattern templates can be connected to a resource individual with varying validity periods. By defining Valid From and Valid To date periods, the generated resource schedule results in resource shifts and breaks based on the shift pattern template within this date period. By entering a value in the Start Sequence No field, it is possible to determine what sequence in the shift pattern template should be used as the starting shift for the corresponding Valid From date defined for the template.
Generating resource schedules and capacity requires a base schedule (HR schedule or work time calendar) to be defined on the resource, even if a shift pattern template is used. The base schedule is used when generating schedules and capacity for dates that have not been defined to use the shift pattern template but are within the offsets in the Generate Resource Schedules and Capacity dialog. Crew resources will only generate resource schedules and capacity for the period defined on the crew.
