This activity is used to define shift pattern templates, which can be used for generating resource shifts, when assigned to a resource. A shift pattern template will be defined by its cycle and shift types.
There are two ways to define a resource shift pattern template, i.e., through the detail page and overview page, but the latter only creates the header information.
A shift pattern template can have the following statuses:
It is possible to obsolete shift pattern templates in status Preliminary and Active, and once obsoleted, it is no longer possible to go back to either preliminary or active. Moreover, deletion is only possible in Preliminary and Obsolete statuses.
A shift pattern template cannot have a resource shift type where the shift end overlaps the shift start of another shift type following it in the cycle and when the cycle is repeated.
Multiple shift types can be defined for a single sequence number. A sequence number can have overlapping shift types, but only between shift types that are set to on call and not set to on call.
If a resource shift type is used, it must exist.
A shift pattern template is created, which can then be used to generate resource shifts.
