Use this activity to enter the shelf life information to inventory parts. It is used to enter the minimum remaining shelf life days at customer order delivery and the minimum remaining shelf life days for planning.
You can enter the shelf life, in number of days, manually, and it will automatically be converted to weeks and displayed in the Weeks field. The minimum remaining days at customer order delivery are the number of days ahead of the expiration date, of the specific product, in which the customer expects goods at the inventory location. This is used when reserving customer orders. During manual reservations, the minimum durability days feature will not take effect. The minimum remaining days will not affect the performing of availability checks or the inventory part availability planning. The reservations of shop orders, material requisitions, project connected reservations and work task material reservations are also not affected.
The minimum remaining days for planning is the number of days ahead of the expiration date of the specific product which is used for inventory part planning. The planning method includes all quantities that have an expiration date which is later than the sum of today's date and the minimum remaining days for planning.
If the minimum remaining days at customer order delivery exists on both the Inventory Part and Sales Part Cross Reference pages, at the customer order reservations, priority should be given to the customer and sales part combination.
The inventory part needs to have an expiration date.
The minimum remaining days at customer order delivery, for a specific part, will be considered during customer order reservations. For calculation purposes, the system uses a tentative date called the expiration control date.
The minimum remaining days for planning, for a specific part, will be considered during the reservation in various places along with availability checks. This can affect the following functional areas: inventory part availability planning, order proposal, master scheduling, MRP, PMRP, availability checks in customer order/distribution order/shop order/material requisition/production schedules/work task/projects, availability exception analysis, shortage handling, purchase order line component availability, CBS, QUAMAN, and several other areas.
