Enter Delivery Route
Explanation
This activity is used to create a delivery/arrival route - there is no separate
basic data for arrival routes. This optional task is to be performed by a system
administrator or an equivalent person.
Delivery route planning is a method to coordinate the delivery of goods to
the receiver who order frequently and a method to streamline incoming supplies
from the sender. In customer orders, this functionality is only used for customers
who order parts regularly and/or frequently, but in quantities smaller than
full truck loads. It would only be useful if you have more than one customer
with similar delivery requirements who are located close enough to be serviced
by the same delivery route.
In purchase orders, arrival route is used to control the incoming traffic
of supplies. The arrivals of purchase parts are scheduled to efficiently manage
the receiving process of supplies.
Since shipment orders covers the whole process from sender to receiver, both
delivery and arrival route can be defined on the order.
It is also part of IFS transport planning, which includes load lists and
consignments. Route planning allows you to plan deliveries based upon routes,
and to determine the last point in time that an order can be taken and still
be included in a specific delivery route. You can also link forwarding agents
to the delivery routes if you use them for transport purposes.
The route may be used for planning when creating a supplier schedule.
Prerequisites
- If you will be using a forwarding agent, basic information must be entered
on the Forwarder
page in Application Base Setup/Enterprise.
- Although you do not connect customers to a route until after the route
is established, you should have information regarding the customers and
their delivery needs before you specify the days in the delivery route.
System Effects
- A route will be created, specifying route days, frequency, and order
deadline lead time.
- The route can be connected as a default delivery route for the customer
in the Customer
page.
- Route can also be connected to applicable supply chain matrices. This
route will appear as the default on customer orders, purchase orders and
shipment orders respectively.
- The route can be linked to individual customer orders, purchase orders
and shipment orders.
- If a forwarding agent has been linked to the delivery route, this value
will default whenever the route is selected.
- The stop times are used when calculating the order delivery
dates and times.
- The stop times are used by the system in calculating the latest order
date and time.
- The receipt times for arrival are used to set the time for when
goods arriving on the route will be available in inventory. They are not
used for delivery routes. For shipment order or distribution order the
times are not considered.
- The due times for delivery are used to set the time for when goods
needs to be available in inventory in order to be delivered on the
route. For shipment order or distribution order the times are not
considered.
