A procurement category assortment will be used to, in a tree structure, group similar products, services and suppliers into categories. This activity is used to define representatives that are responsible for different areas related to the category. One of the representatives should be set up as the main representatives for the category.
The representatives could either be responsible for the category globally in the organization or responsible for the category within a certain company. If a local representative has been defined for a company that will be used before the global representative.
If you define representatives for a category in the structure, all sub-nodes will inherit the representative set up. You can however override the inherited representatives at any level.
As a result of this activity the persons responsible for the different procurement categories and their roles are defined and will be used for instance as a dimension when analyzing the spend for the category.
