Object Preference

Explanation

This activity is used to register resource preferences on equipment/service objects. When a job is to be carried out on an object, there can be resources which are preferred. Those resources can be registered per object based on combinations of work type and priority.  Once, the registration of resource preferences are done, those preferred resources will be inherited to work tasks which are created against the object.

Resource preference can be defined on an object of type functional and serial, in Scheduling Details page. When registering a preference, it is mandatory to enter a resource ID and preference. The preference, can be 0,1 or a value between 0 and 1. Entering a preference of 1 indicates that, no other resources are to be considered for the job, and a value of 0 restrict using such a resource on the job. A value between 0 and 1 such as 0.5 works in a sliding scale of preference. In addition to above two fields, a work type and priority can also be specified for a preference line, thereby the resource get preferred only if the work type and priority combination matches the one given on the job. If these two fields are left blank, then the preferred resource is valid to execute the work disregard of the work type and the priority of the job.

The preferences entered on a parent object of a structure, can also be the preferences of it's children. Hence, a right mouse button option is available to inherit parent preferences to it's children. If there is such child object, then the details of the parent can be found under two fields, Parent Preference Object ID and Parent Preference Site.
