Use this activity to update relevant work assignments with changes coming from the scheduled plan from Planning and Scheduling Optimization (PSO). By performing this activity, work assignments will be updated with the latest scheduled plan from PSO. The fields that can be updated on the work assignment is Allocated Start, Allocated Finish and Duration.
When a work assignment is created by a commit from PSO or by the DSP it will be created with the data in the plan from where it was committed. If there has been changes to the activity in the coming plans after the commit, this is visible on the allocation record in Scheduling Information / Allocations where the Plan Changes flag will be set to Yes on the allocation.
To update the work assignment to the information provided in the latest plan, select the option Update Plan Changes on allocations where the Plan Changes is set to Yes. The option Update Plan Changes is also available in the Scheduled Work Tasks page.
It is also possible to set up a Database Task Schedule to continuously run the Update Plan Changes function for allocations that has been changed after they were committed. The Database Task is called Schedule Plan Changes and can be scheduled to update assignments based on parameters defined. The parameters include Dataset Id which accepts a dataset ID or a wildcard (%), Work Assignment Status (default: Assigned) which controls up until what status changes should be kept in sync (NB: Changing this parameter to a higher status will force a bigger load as more assignments will be updated) and Min Diff, which will compare the difference between the difference between the allocated start and finish from the plan with the allocated start and finish on the work assignments.
As a result of this activity, work assignments on the work task will be updated with the information from the latest scheduled plan from PSO.
