The service request is a fast and easy way to report a service, or a fault. In the Service Request all necessary information about the specific service assignment is recorded. When creating a service request it is possible to find the object that is linked on to a particular customer when you retrieve the customer and the other way round. It is also possible with the help of the system to find valid service contracts. The location of the object can also be retrieved with the relevant address, which is useful to service execution.
Before a service request is created you have to define the objects that belongs to a certain customer. You can also define service contracts or customer and supplier warranties for the object. When the user enters a service request it is then possible to see which objects, contracts and warranties that belongs to a given customer. You also have to enter some mandatory information when you create a service request such as a short description of the service, or the fault and the maintenance organization. The service request is used in IFS/Service Management.
If you are performing internal maintenance, which means if there is neither an external customer nor a service contract connected to the work order you have to use the Fault Report instead. The fault report is used in IFS/Maintenance.
