Define Planning Rules
Explanation
This activity is used to define a planning rule to be used in a business
plan.
To define a planning rule:
- If the planning rule should be valid for a limited period range of the
business plan, specify the period range. If the planning rule should be
valid for the entire period range of the business plan, the fields should
be left blank.
- To select Output Value Type, Balance Based should
be selected in the Planning Rule Type field.
- In the selection list, define which planning dimension that should trigger
the planning rule. Repeat step for each relevant dimension.
- Select a value in the Input field. Either the selection or the
result of a previous calculation can be used as input. If Calculation
is chosen as input, the row number of the calculation must be defined in
the Reference Row Number field.
- In the Factor field, define what portion of the input to be used
for the output definition row. (1 = 100%)
If Calculation is selected as Row Type:
- Select a value for Operator to use when the input value should
be calculated with either an Assumption Driver or a Fixed Value.
- Either enter an assumption driver ID in the Assumption Driver
field or a fixed value in the Fixed Value field to be used in the
calculation.
If Output is selected as Row Type:
- Enter the planning dimension values that should be used for the transactions
created from the planning rule. Enter a * sign to indicate that the planning
dimension should have the same value as the input transactions.
If Automatic Distribution is selected as Row type:
- Enter the planning dimension values that should be used for the transactions
created from the planning rule. Enter a * sign to indicate that the planning
dimension should have the same value as the input transactions. The planning
dimensions used in the automatic distribution definition will be blocked
for entry.
