Create Parameters

Explanation

Use this activity to create a new parameter, e.g., pressure, temperature, oil level.

Parameters are connected to objects and are used for criteria based PM actions. When a measured value has been entered against a parameter, and the value surpasses a certain limit defined on a PM action, a work order will be generated from the PM action when running the Criteria Generation job.

Each parameter must have a type of either Accumulated, Limit or Condition. The Accumulated type is used to specify a cumulative value, for example operation time. The Limit type is used to specify a maximum and/or minimum value, for example pressure, temperature, water flow, oil level etc. The Condition type uses a List of Values defined for each type of equipment.

Each parameter must have the requirement for a Meter ID specified. Mandatory is used to ensure a Meter ID is always recorded with a measurement. Optional allows for a Meter ID to be recorded, but is not mandatory. Not Used removes the requirement for an ID - an ID cannot be recorded. Once a Meter ID has been recorded against an object parameter, it can only be changed using the Meter Change process. Condition Parameters cannot have Meter ID.

Parameter Ratings is used to define values for Parameters. User can add as many ratings as required, with corresponding description. It is possible to override each calculated rating with a manual set value.

Limit and Accumulated parameters need a min and max interval defined for each rating. I.e. if a reading falls between these values that would give a certain rating.

For Condition Parameters the ratings will be available in a List of Values when reporting measurements.

System Effects

As a result of this activity, a new parameter is created and you can make entries with parameters on equipment objects, PM actions, and measurements.
