Genarate IUID Automatically

Explanation

Use this activity to generate the Item Unique Identification (IUID) Codes automatically. When the IUID setup has been done for the serial tracked parts at Part IUID Setup or Project IUID Setup pages the system will generate the IUID code automatically when a new Part Serial record is created (when new serial is entered in to the system). The IUID value is automatically generated only for rule Type 1 and rule Type 2. For rule types ESN, VIM, GIAI and GRAI the Part Serial IUID Information records are created, but IUID codes are not created as logic to generate logic is not supported.

The IUID code will be generated automatically in the following situations based on above mentioned setup.

• When receiving a part to the inventory from a manufacturing shop order
• When receiving a part to the inventory from a production schedule
• Through the counting process (when entering a new serial)
• When receiving part to the inventory using Receive Inventory Part page
• When receiving a part using CRO flow (only when the part serial is a new serial number)

A new record in Part Serial IUID Information page is created and the generated IUID code is stored. The generated IUID is always unique within the application and has one to one relationship with part serial number. The automatically generated IUID code can be updated, if required and the changes will be tracked in Part Serial IUID History page.

Prerequisites

The IUID requirement should have been enabled for the part in Part IUID Setup or Project IUID Setup page.

System Effects

As a result of this activity:

• IUID code is generated automatically, Part Serial IUID Information record is created and IUID code is visible in this page for the parts with rule Type 1 and Type 2.
• For other rule types, the Part Serial IUID Information records are created, but without IUID codes.
