Select Flow

Explanation

Examples of typical flows are :

• customer orders from different sites.
• internal vs. external transactions from the same site.
• customer orders from customers in different customer groups.

You must decide at which levels and in which dimensions you want to generate forecasts. The definition of these flows is done in Demand Server Setup. For many installations, one flow will be sufficient to cover the forecasting requirements. In this case, the Select Flow toolbar may be permanently deactivated in the menu View/Toolbars.

When you change to a new flow, the current part number will remain selected if it exists in the new flow. This makes it convenient to work with forecasts for the same item in a different flow. If the current part number does not exist in the new flow, the first part in the new flow (according to the current sort order) will be presented.

When you change the current flow on group level, all group selections are reset to All.

To select the flow, click the open button of the Flow combo box and choose the desired Flow. See, Demand Plan Client.

System Effects

As a result of this activity:

• The forecast part database will consist only of parts whose transactions fit the definition of the new flow in Server Setup.
• If one is at group level when selecting a new flow, the system will present the total aggregated forecast for this new forecast part database.
