Assign Maintenance Level

Explanation

This activity is used to assign, change or reset maintenance levels for an overhaul object (i.e., work order part). Maintenance levels can be assigned to a sub-assembly and/or a piece part. A piece part refers to a part which does not have components.

The maintenance level to assign, is based on the calculated suggested maintenance level, and modification and LLP (life limited part) maintenance events transferred from IFS/Fleet and Asset Management. For more information on calculating suggested maintenance levels for the work scope, refer the online help file: Calculate Suggested Maintenance Level.

You can view information on the maintenance events and customer approved maintenance baselines which are defined for the selected overhaul object in the Work Scope Mx Events tab, Affected Part Mx Events tab, and the Mx Level Baseline tab.

When you generate a work order part maintenance record, initial maintenance level values are set. These values are derived from the maintenance level baseline defined in Shop Visit Defaults/Maintenance Level Baseline tab. (A work order part maintenance record is generated when clicking on the Calculate Maintenance Levels from Baseline command.) Maintenance levels are assigned in work order part maintenance, and is subsequently used to release a work scope in order to create an interim order structure.

Following can be done as part of this activity:

Notes: To be able to audit and report to the customer on changes that have been made to maintenance levels applied to a shop visit, it is recommended that the engineering staff enter a comment when a change of a maintenance level is performed. A Part Maintenance Level History record is created to record the fact that a maintenance level change was made against a module.

The Expose All Affected Parts option is enabled in the Assign Mx Level tab, if all affected parts for a modification or LLP event that is associated to a sub-assembly is included in the maintenance level structure. If you choose a maintenance level record where this option enabled, all affected parts are exposed.

Maintenance levels already defined for the piece parts will be removed when you change the maintenance level for the immediate parent sub-assembly. However the new parent maintenance level will be attached to the piece parts, if the option Copy Parent Mx Level to Piece Parts in Site\Manufacturing\MRO is enabled and that maintenance level is attached to the piece parts in Parts per Maintenance Level page with Disassembly Level as Disposition.

System Effects

As a result of this activity, the work scope for the overhaul object is defined and can be released. The assigned maintenance levels can be verified in the Mx Level Summary tab.
