A serial equipment object, in contrast to a functional object, is intended to be moved around in facility. A serial object can for example be an electrical motor, or anything else suitable for relocation into different positions in the facility. When moving an object, you can move it to a different object structure within the facility, i.e., you move it from the superior object to another one.
Additionally there can be requirements to move a serial object to a different site after operating for a while. Serial Object can be moved from one site to another site but this movement is restricted when there are ongoing maintenance (open work orders, work tasks or work task steps) or directly connected to service items (meter invoicing, service/request contracts, service requests or service quotations) for the object. When moving an object, you have the option to move it to a different object structure within the facility, i.e., you move it to a new superior object while changing the site.
Note: Serial objects included in a service/request contract with Use line on structure can be moved to different site or a parent provided there is no ongoing work through the service/request contract and PM actions generated through service contracts are obsoleted
Once the Serial Object is moved to a new site, serial object will carry its referenced details to the new site such as measurements, testpoints/parameters, spare parts, technical details, attachments, scheduling details and object warranty. (Cost/Year details are removed once the serial object is moved to a new site). New revisions for existing PM actions will be created for the object with the WO Site and Maint org given in the dialog.
If the moving serial object has test points/parameters defined on it, it is possible to register the current measurement of the parameters during the move. Additionally, it is possible to define, modify or remove the Update from Object of the parameters, if those should change after the serial object is moved. If any child serial objects in the moving structure inherits measurement from outside the moving structure(Update from object is from outside the moving structure) then those inheritances will be removed automatically once the Serial object structure is moved.
The serial object information is stored in the Serial Object in IFS/Equipment. The history of changes, e.g., the movements of a serial object is saved in the Serial Object History, and all information is kept in one place throughout the entire range of IFS Cloud, as a means of facilitating life cycle management solutions about serials.
