Enter Crew Members

Explanation

Perform this activity to enter resources of type Person or Tool/Equipment as members to a crew. Crew members will get resource allocations based on the crew schedule for the period(s) the crew is planned to work in combination with the defined member period. This means that allocations are only created where the crew period and member period is overlapping.

It is mandatory to enter the start of the member period, but it is possible to leave the end date blank. This can be used if the member is assigned to the crew on a more permanent basis. A member can only be assigned to one crew at a given point in time.

Extended Member Periods

For extended member periods (e.g., periods without an end date), it is possible define an offset to define the horizon for which allocations should be created against the resource. The parameter is defined by the End Offset setting for Crew Member Allocations in Resource Basic Data page. This offset will also be used when no member period end date has been defined or when the offset results in an earlier end date than the defined member period end date.

The parameter can be set up as a schedule task to continuously extend the resource allocations. The schedule task Extend Crew Member Allocations onwards will create allocations for the resource from SYSDATE until SYSDATE+ End Offset.

Prerequisites

Resource Persons and Tool/Equipment must exists.

System Effects

Crew member allocations are created against the resources based on the member periods or the defined offset for Crew Member Allocations in Resource Basic Data, the crew periods and the crew schedule.

If the schedule task Extend Crew Member Allocations onwards is setup to run daily, it will consciously extend the member allocations against the crew.
